Italy

Italy is a country in Southern Europe. The capital and most populous city is Rome and the economic and financial center is Milan.

The Italian territory is mostly located on the Apennine Peninsula enclosed by the Mediterranean Sea, the adjacent Northern Italian Plain, and in the southern Alpine arc. The state borders on France, Switzerland, Austria and Slovenia. The small states of Vatican City and San Marino are completely surrounded by Italian territory. In addition to the large islands of Sicily and Sardinia, several island groups are offshore.

The Italian contribution to the cultural and historical heritage of Europe and the world is noteworthy, the territory of today’s Italy was in ancient times the core region of the Roman Empire, Tuscany and the rival Italian city-states were the heartland of the Renaissance, it was followed from Rome the era of the Baroque and then the Classicism.

The Risorgimento gave rise to the modern Italian nation-state: from 1861 to 1946, the Kingdom of Italy existed under the House of Savoy, which rapidly industrialized, rose to become a major European power, and from the 1880s established a colonial empire in North and East Africa. The costly and loss-making participation in World War I from 1915 to 1918 led to the expansion of the national territory, but also to severe social unrest and paved the way to power for the Italian Fascists. The fascist regime ruled Italy from 1922 to 1943-45 and led the country into World War II in 1940 on the side of the Axis powers, which ended in defeat in 1945 and resulted in the loss of colonies and minor territorial cessions.

In June 1946, a referendum ended the monarchy; the current republic was proclaimed.

Italy is a co-initiator of European integration and a founding member of the European Union, the Council of Europe, NATO and the Latin Union. The country is a member of the G7, the G20, the United Nations (UN), the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The Italian armed forces are among the most powerful in the world and are ranked as the fourth most powerful within NATO.

According to the Human Development Index, Italy is one of the most developed countries in the world as an industrialized nation. In terms of gross domestic product, Italy is the third largest economy in the European Union and the eighth largest in the world.

The country enjoys a high standard of living and education and has one of the highest life expectancies. Italy is the country with the most UNESCO World Heritage Sites, with around 65 million tourists annually, making it one of the most visited countries in the world.

    Columbia Icefields Glacier

The Athabasca Glacier is one of the six principal 'toes' of the Columbia Icefield, located in the Canadian Rockies. The glacier currently loses depth at a rate of about 5 metres (16 ft) per year[2] and has receded more than 1.5 km (0.93 mi) and lost over half of its volume in the past 125 years. Easily accessible, it is the most visited glacier in North America.

    Lake Louise

Today we’ve been to lake Louise. Lake Louise is the crown jewel of Banff National Park and has been drawing visitors to the Canadian Rockies for over a century. It’s known for its beautiful turquoise water. We were kayaking from one side to the other. Had a very great day at lake Louise. Highly recommended!

Locomotion and accommodation

Platzhalter

The journey on the spot is very cheap by bus.
Who does not want to deal with it because it can be quite uncomfortable in the summer to ride in a crowded bus, which can also move very cheap with the app „Bolt“ in the country.
The advantage is that here no negotiations or misunderstandings with locals arise.
To be able to use the app or the Internet on site, I recommend buying a sim card directly at the airport. There, depending on the exchange rate, you pay about 3-4 dollars for a week of Internet.
Who wants to Tbilisi or Batumi should also keep flights to Kuataisi in mind because there Wizz Air often offers very cheap flights.
Who is then still looking for accommodation I should look around on the platform AirBnb where there are very good offers depending on the season.
Important a European standard does not exist here, roads, houses are often in need of renovation. Also power outages can meet one this but more outside the cities.
Who just wants to go skiing or a hot summer with varied nature should look at the country where the wine was invented a little closer. At least the locals claim that you are the inventor of wine. And not to forget, to the excellent wine belongs an excellent cuisine and also master the Georgiea.
