Georgia

Georgia is a Eurasian state located in the South Caucasus, east of the Black Sea and south of the Great Caucasus. It is bordered by Russia to the north, Turkey and Armenia to the south, and Azerbaijan to the east. The parts of Abkhazia and South Ossetia are occupied by Russian forces and are not under the control of the Georgian government. With about 3.7 million inhabitants (2020) on an area of 57,215 km² (excluding the occupied parts of the country), Georgia is rather sparsely populated. More than a quarter of the population lives in the capital region around Tbilisi; other large cities are Batumi, Kutaisi and Rustavi.

Our experience about Georgia

Georgia is a country that quickly goes unnoticed due to its size. Yet it has a lot to offer in terms of scenery. With ski resorts in the Caucasus, but also the Black Sea in the east of the country.
Georgia has very simple entry requirements. Those who want to live here can benefit from very low taxes. It is absolutely worth a vacation and I will not have been here the last time.
Georgian food and wine should definitely be tasted here.
Since you hear everywhere that the country is not safe and you have to be careful. I had to find out for myself that I felt safer than in many other countries, even at night.
Then here still before the free-running dogs warned both in the city as well as outside I had to determine that do not do anything to anyone, I’m scared here or there but that I experienced a dangerous situation I can not confirm.
Only on the cars you have to be careful. Crosswalks are indeed for pedestrians to find but a car will stop only in an emergency.

Tips from our experience

– Get a Georgian Sim Card
– Ride with Bolt Taxi
– Taste Georgian wine
– Eat local food
– Take enough time

Locomotion and accommodation

The journey on the spot is very cheap by bus.
Who does not want to deal with it because it can be quite uncomfortable in the summer to ride in a crowded bus, which can also move very cheap with the app „Bolt“ in the country.
The advantage is that here no negotiations or misunderstandings with locals arise.
To be able to use the app or the Internet on site, I recommend buying a sim card directly at the airport. There, depending on the exchange rate, you pay about 3-4 dollars for a week of Internet.
Who wants to Tbilisi or Batumi should also keep flights to Kuataisi in mind because there Wizz Air often offers very cheap flights.
Who is then still looking for accommodation I should look around on the platform AirBnb where there are very good offers depending on the season.
Important a European standard does not exist here, roads, houses are often in need of renovation. Also power outages can meet one this but more outside the cities.
Who just wants to go skiing or a hot summer with varied nature should look at the country where the wine was invented a little closer. At least the locals claim that you are the inventor of wine. And not to forget, to the excellent wine belongs an excellent cuisine and also master the Georgiea.
