The family

We are a family of four. Thalen and Anni with Lian and Lunis. Lian will be 3 years old in September and his brother Lunis 1 year old. Lian is Full of energy and a loving big brother to Lunis.
Anni used to be an office clerk and got self employed in 2016 in network marketing like me. I started in 2013.
Both of us always loved to travel. Anni has been to the USA several times and Thalen traveled in Australia and New Zealand for 9 month just with a bag….
Thalen had to go back in 2011 because of the army where he used to work before.
But now Thalen makes his career in network marketing especially selling solar panels.

How did we meet?

In 2016 we got to know each other on the Kieler Woche and used to have one same friend but never knew about it. In august 2018 we bought our house in Molfsee and renovated it. It took us a lot of work but it was worth is.
In September 2020 Anni gave birth to Lian and we started our little family. We seemed to pretty happy but I started to have doubts and came up with the idea of traveling and leaving Germany for a while. I just didn’t like the weather and the German bureaucracy anymore.

Another example is a problem I had with a car insurance who refused to pay after an accident. I was fully right to get paid by them but it’s still in progress…
Another reason are the high taxes we have to pay. So tell me one reason why we have to pay for GEZ?

The increasing prices in Germany are not acceptable anymore. In other countries there might be expensive things too but I will get a better climate to feel more comfortable. Or more friendly people to talk to or just a better quality of life. There are different things to compare to.
I thought having children and take care about a house would stop me living my dreams but corona made it possible to work online so you can be wherever you want to be.

I could tell you so many other things I made bad experiences of in Germany. It would just take to much time ;) If you have any questions don’t be shy to ask.
I also know the grass is not always greener on the other side but we want to get to know different countries to see how it is and if we find another place to be happy at.

ABOUT US
Our old home in Germany

Our house in germany.

And who will be asked to pay? The super rich have everything secured by various company constructs, they hardly pay anything. But the middle class is fleeced. When does one become a top earner in Germany in terms of tax law? What do I have to do and gross sales so that 5000 € net remain?
Yes exactly with it I count fiscally as a top earner and may pay almost 50% tax levies.
As a citizen money recipient I could give me the private health insurance about 1400 € mtl because the start insures me. The rent is also still taken over. Let’s just take 1000€ there to make it easier to calculate.
Then I must pay the kindergarten also no more approx. 200€ mtl. And for each family member there is a lump sum of 500€mtl. With our family evenly times 4 persons. All together calculated. 4600€ every month for doing nothing. Thereby child allowances etc. Not taken into account.
Where should one take here still the motivation to work? A citizen money receiver is to be set equal with a fiscally regarded top earner.
Surely not everything is bad here and as long as we still have the possibility to free ourselves from the hamster wheel I just have to do it.
When I told my wife, she was not pleased at first, but because of the initially chosen route, she was thrilled.
Also my motives were increasingly more understood.

By the increasing price development, the cost of living it is also not just more pleasant. Yes elsewhere it is not better but just different. But exactly that is enough. I am happy to pay more for good food, only for bad climate double heating pads, is for me no quality of life.
I first thought that with children house and yard it will never be possible to follow his inner desire.
But thanks to Corona, the online work is now much better possible, at least it meets with the customers increasingly more acceptance.
So I looked for an anchor when we should and can start. When is the right time? I always said yes when the house is sold.
But nothing happened. And so I searched for a new anchor in a cold and mixed January week. I booked a flight to Canada. Until then everything must be done.
And so it should come the planning started now really.

Citizen's Income

On this picture you can see our citizen’s income claim in Germany.
Important the health insurance costs that I would have before are of course also covered by the German state.

  • What do we want to travel with?

  • Which insurance do we need?

  • Which documents do we need to collect?

And much more. More about this in the section Planning before the trip.
